Occupations Causing Mesothelioma

Exposure to asbestos is the basic reason behind the deadly carcinogenic disease of mesothelioma. The highly aggressive asbestos cancer affect the mesothelial lining of the organs like lungs, heart, and abdomen in the human body. In the United States of America large number of buildings are fitted with various asbestose accessories. In the past decades, asbestose has been massively used in construction and industrial set-ups. According to the latest statistics, significant numbers of asbestos materials are still present various American establishments including residential houses, factories, and office premises. The particles of asbestos are abundantly hovering across many states in the country and exposure to these hazardous elements often turns one a potential victim of mesothelioma without being directly related to asbestos. The map above showing the rate of malignant mesothelioma death per 1 million people by state in the USA since 1999-2005.

Worst reports comes in from the statistics since 1920 to 1970; during this period asbestos related works were all time high in the united states. During this period the manufacturing or construction workers because of their profession used to come in direct contact of this material. Again, a large number of US military personnel became the victims of mesothelioma due to their involvement with different works, which directly exposed them to asbestos.

Employers Ignore Their Role in Mesothelioma

It’s really pathetic that even today, lots of people are diagnosed with mesothelioma. This disease is detected in the affected victims at a later age (50+). The victims during their employment tenure, were directly/indirectly exposed to asbestos and after retirement diagnosed with mesothlioma.

Interestingly, the businesses houses never reveals the painful truth associated with the asbestos related manufacturing processes. They remain silent even knowing the high level of risk to their employees but grossly ignore or prefer to cover up these real facts only for continuing business and maximization of profit. Surprisingly, until ‘70’s the law related to minimization of asbestos use weren’t in action. Today, observing increasing number of mesothelioma patients among the retired employees from the asbestos related businesses, definitely these businesses can be held responsible.

  1. Exposure to dangerous asbestos fibers has caused the development of cancer in a variety of different employees and occupations over the years. The fibers, once inhaled or ingested, begin to scar the tissue inside of the body. 70 to 80 percent of all mesothelioma cases reported were because of exposure to asbestos in the workplace. Because it takes anywhere between 20 to 50 years to manifest, occupations held in the 1940s, 1950s, 1960s, and even into the 1970s may cause mesothelioma in lives today.
