Dr. Larry R. Kaiser
Dr. Larry R. Kaiser is the President of the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. He received his medical degree from Tulane University and completed his internship and residency program at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) Medical Center. He took further education in Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery at the University of Toronto in the year of 1985 and professionally attached with this organization as Senior Resident in Thoracic Surgery. Later he joined in the thoracic services faculty at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Hospital in New York. Dr. Kaiser became a member of the faculty at Washington University (St. Louis) in 1988. In 1988, became a member of the faculty at Washington University (St. Louis) School of Medicine. In 1991 he became Associate Professor of Surgery, Chief of General Thoracic Surgery, founder and Director of the Lung Transplantation Program, and Director of the Center for Lung Cancer and Related Disorders at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Kaiser recognizes the medical areas of lung cancer, malignant mesothelioma and mediastinal tumors among the subjects of his special interest. He has done significant amount of research work as well as numerous practical dealing with the related cases in the Oncology Research Lab at the University of Pennsylvania. He is better known as the pioneer in the video thoracoscopy technique and has designed and patented a set of diagnostic instruments for use during this medical procedure. He holds the position of the principal investigator at the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Kaiser has crossed a long way serving in the various avenues as a successful and much trusted medical professional. He is an fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of several other professional organizations including the American Association for Thoracic Surgery, American Surgical Association, the Halsted Society, Society of Clinical Surgery, the Fleischner Society, and the Society of University Surgeons. He is currently serving or served on the editorial board of the Contemporary Surgery, Annals of Surgical Oncology, ACS Surgery, Annals of Surgery, and the Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery. In 2005 Dr. Kaiser was elected to the Institute of Medicine of the National Academies of Science.
Among Dr. Kaiser’s published papers and book, he has already authored more than 300 research papers and more than a dozen of books on effective medical issues and practices. More interestingly, he has been marked as the “World Class Doc” and “Top Doc” by the Philadelphia Magazine.
